Straw Bales by Magdaléna Manderlová

Straw bales is a sound collage where I’m weaving together voiceover, field recordings and small bits of songs and music. I’m seeking my own sonic memories of a particular bird’s voice - the common swift/tårnsvale from decades ago, and listening to how these rooms in my mind unwind. It touches on the relationship between sound perception and memory, and draws on the ambiguity of translation - in between languages, and between literary and musical interpretation.
